How to Use This Calculator

1
Army tape test procedure
The Army uses the same US Navy circumference method. Soldiers must pass both the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) and the Army Body Composition Program (ABCP) standards. If you exceed height/weight limits, you'll be taped using this method.
2
Age and gender standards
Army Regulation 600-9 sets body fat standards by age group and gender. Standards become slightly more lenient with age. Failing the ABCP can result in enrollment in a weight control program, and repeated failures can affect promotion eligibility or result in separation.
3
What happens if you fail?
Soldiers who fail the tape test are enrolled in the Army Body Composition Program (ABCP). You'll receive counseling, dietary guidance, and a structured fitness plan. Sustained failure (over 6 months) may lead to adverse administrative actions including separation from service.
