How to Use This Calculator
1
LMP vs conception date
Most calculators use Last Menstrual Period (LMP) because conception date is rarely known precisely. Pregnancy is measured from LMP even though conception occurs roughly 14 days later — this is a medical convention used worldwide. For a 28-day cycle, LMP + 280 days = due date (Naegele's rule).
2
Cycle length adjustment
If your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days, the LMP method adjusts accordingly. A 30-day cycle shifts the due date 2 days later; a 26-day cycle shifts it 2 days earlier. This corrects for when ovulation (and thus conception) actually occurred.
3
Milestone overview
Key milestones mark developmental phases. The first trimester (weeks 1–12) is the highest risk for miscarriage; the second trimester (13–26) is often the most comfortable; the third trimester (27–40) is the final preparation for birth.
