How to Use This Calculator

1
Measure the room
Measure the length and width of the room at the widest points. For irregular rooms, break them into rectangles and add the areas together. Measure multiple times — a small measurement error becomes significant when ordering by the box.
2
Choose the right waste percentage
Add 10% for standard rectangular rooms with few cuts. Add 15% for rooms with diagonal patterns or unusual shapes. Add 15–20% for tile or stone that needs more cuts at edges. Always round up — returning unused flooring is easier than making another order run for a few planks.
3
Calculate boxes needed
Enter the coverage area per box from your product's packaging (typically 15–25 sq ft for hardwood, 20–30 for laminate, 10–15 for tile). The calculator always rounds up to the nearest whole box.
