How to Use This Calculator
1
What do ideal weight formulas measure?
These formulas were originally developed for medical dosing and clinical research, not aesthetic goals. They estimate the statistically average weight associated with lowest disease risk at a given height. They do not account for individual body composition, muscle mass, or frame size.
2
Enter your height accurately
Stand barefoot against a wall, heels together. Use a hardcover book flat on your head, mark the wall, and measure from the floor. Even a half-inch difference in height shifts the ideal weight estimate by 2–3 lbs.
3
Use the average as a reference, not a target
The four formulas often diverge by 10–20 lbs. The average provides a reasonable middle-ground estimate. Your actual ideal weight depends on muscle mass, bone density, and health markers — not just height. BMI and body fat percentage provide a more complete picture.
