How to Use This Converter
- Sweetened condensed milk = whole milk with ~60% water removed + ~44% sugar added.
- To make a substitute: simmer whole milk + sugar together until thick and halved in volume.
- Evaporated milk = whole milk with 60% water removed, no sugar — lighter and less sweet.
- To go the other way, dilute condensed milk 1:1 with water to approximate whole milk.

→ ~1¼ cups whole milk + ¾ cup sugar, simmered down
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk

½ cup condensed milk (diluted)
→ ~1 cup whole milk equivalent (1:1 with water)
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use condensed milk instead of whole milk in coffee?
Yes — dilute sweetened condensed milk with an equal amount of water for a creamy, sweet substitute. Use less or no added sugar.
Is evaporated milk the same as condensed milk?
No. Evaporated milk has no sugar; sweetened condensed milk is very sweet. They are not interchangeable without adjusting sugar.
How long does homemade condensed milk last?
About 1 week refrigerated in an airtight container. Store-bought cans last 1–2 years unopened.
