Frequently Asked Questions

Does this account for taxes?
No — this shows gross (before-tax) figures. Use our Salary Calculator for a net take-home pay estimate after federal, FICA, and state taxes.
How many weeks should I use for paid time off?
If you have 2 weeks PTO that is paid, keep 52 weeks. If you have 2 weeks unpaid, use 50 weeks to see your actual earned rate.
What is biweekly pay?
Biweekly = every two weeks = 26 pay periods per year. Annual salary ÷ 26 = one biweekly paycheck.
How do I compare a salary to a contractor hourly rate?
Enter the salary in the "Annual Salary → Hourly" mode. The hourly output is the equivalent rate. Compare that to the contract rate, keeping in mind contractors pay self-employment tax and get no benefits.
